for which Leonard Toma writes the majority of the lyrics (www.mishela.fajtori.com).
The name MISHELA derives from a “contaminated” music style which
combines Italian and Albanian culture. In 1998 the band recorded the
album “Noise from a little House” with 11 out of 14 song lyrics written
by Leonard.
In 1999 the group
took part in the XII edition of “Rock targato Italia” winning the award
for the Best group of the Milan hinterland.
In the summer of 2000 the
band released the “Hopeful Nest”, a self-produced CD of 17 tracks with
16 song lyrics written by Leonard.
In 2002 the disc “Merry go Round”
was published including 12 new songs, 9 out of 12 lyrics composed by
Leonard. In the same 2002 some tracks and interviews were broadcasted in
“Radio popolare network”, “Nova Radio”, “Circuito Marconi” and “Gamma
Radio”, “Rock FM”, “Radio Seregno”.

who worked with FABRIZIO DE ANDRE’), MONIO VA, UNION NOWHERE and others.

He participates in the full-lenght movie “FAME CHIMICA”.

Italiano
Leonard Toma inizia la sua carriera come musicista nel 1980 formandosi nei
concerti di musica rock & pop. Ma subito sente che lo stile musicale che ama
maggiormente è il folk-etnico proveniente dal paese dove è nato, l' Albania. La
sua passione per il rock e l' amore per la musica folk-etnica lo portano a
formare uno stile musicale che tutt' oggi porta in sè. Il suo primo gruppo sono
i " N.A.E.M.I. ", formato nel 1984 a Laç in Albania il quale ottiene un
discreto successo.
Ma nel 1990 dopo i cambiamenti politici verificatesi nel proprio paese, tutti
i componenti del gruppo decidono di emigrare all' estero. Leonard sceglie di
emigrare in Grecia, precisamente a Patrasso. Qui per mantenersi, lavora come
barista e suona musica folk greca con il chitarrista & bouzouki Spiros Grivas.
Verso la fine del 1992 decide di spostarsi in Italia, stabilendosi a Milano.
Qui inizia, forse, il periodo piu' difficile che Leonard abbia mai avuto nella
propria vita., dai propri amici ancor piu' lontano dai propri famigliari e dai
propri amici.
La sua voglia di realizzarsi e il suo chiodo fisso per la musica lo portano a
conoscere persone che lo aiuteranno e lo incoraggeranno e ben presto inizia a
suonare come batterista nella banda "Giuseppe Verdi" di Cesano Maderno (MI).
Certo non era il genere di musica che desiderava suonare ma era pur sempre un
inizio. Del resto come dice un proverbio albanese: Chi non ha il pollo mangia
il corvo.
Il primo gruppo
Nel 1995 insieme a due amici italiani (Francesco e Mauro) decide di formare un
gruppo rock, i "MISHELA" dove lui è compositore e batterista. Il
nome MISHELAderiva dallo stile musicale "contaminato" creato dall' unione
culturale italo-albanese.
Nel 1998 i "Mishela" realizzano "Noise from a little House" con 12 canzoni. 11
di queste hanno come autore Leonard.
Nel 1999 partecipano alla XII edizione di "Rock targato Italia"
classificandosi tra i primi.
Nell' aprile del 2000 i "MISHELA" ottengono una recensione molto positiva come
primo demo del mese sulla rivista musicale "Tribe Generation" (18 Aprile 2000)
citando Leonard Toma come "portatore dei ritmi e delle melodie Balcaniche in

Il primo album
Nell' estate del 2000 esce "Hopeful Nest", CD autoprodotto con 17 pezzi, 16
dei quali hanno come autore Leonard.
Nel 2002 esce "Merry Go Round" CD con 12 pezzi, di cui 9 delle quali hanno com
autore Leonard. Sempre nel 2002 alcuni brani e diverse interviste vengono
trasmesse da "Radio Popolare Network", "Nova radio", "Circuito Marconi" e
"Gamma Radio".
Collaborazioni
Nel maggio del 2002, con la nostalgia per le musiche balcaniche, decide di
formare una band che porta il suo nome "Leonard Toma Band", dove suona la
chitarra & bouzouki, le spercussioni ed è anche una delle voci. Con questo
gruppo dà la precedenza alle proprie canzoni inedite, alle musiche balcaniche e
a quelle World Music come il pezzo "Aicha" del musicista algerino Khaled,
impostando tale pezzo con una chiave musicale tutta personale e con un testo
misto tra albanese, italiano e francese. La sua band e composta da musicisti
albanesi, egiziani, eritrei e rumeni.
Nel frattempo collabora e suona con altri musicisti, tra cui Vladimir
Denissenkov, fisarmonicista che ha lavorato con Fabrizio De Andre', Moni
Ovadia, Union Nowhere ed altri.
Nel ottobre 2002 , Leonard partecipa come percussionista della colonna sonora
del film " Doctor Zhivago". Il film uscirà in anteprima mondiale nel 2003 (con

Nel 2004 appare con una piccola parte di attore nel film ''Fame Chimica''.
Nuova band e successo Albanese:
Nel 2009 Leonard Toma arriva ad una svolta della sua carriera musicale e dopo
anni di lavoro riunisce una band composta da Claudio Elazar Lazzaro al basso ed
alle chitarre che diventa sua produttore ed arrangiatore realizzando un grande
concerto a Bashtove in Albania davanti ad un pubblico di circa 3000 persone ed
entrando a far parte del ''gotha'' dei cantanti Pop Albanesi con passaggio di
Video Clip da parte delle piu' grandi televisioni nazionali quali Top Channel e
TVSH.
DJ SET e Glamour Internazionale
Si trasferisce in Toscana ed inizia a portare avanti un'attività legata ai
DJ's Set che lo rende famoso (piu' di 100 serate in un'anno) per la sua
capacità di mixare House Classica e derivati Balcanici Orientali nello stile di
Carl Cox and Ritchie Awtin (Plastikman) e proponendo un prodotto internazionale
molto amato nell'enclave anglossassone delle province di Livorno, Firenze e
Arezzo note per la presenza di grandi Artisti del panorama Pop britannico, uno
fra tutti è Gordon Sumner in Arte ''Sting'' che ha voluto Leonard Toma come DJ
alla sua festa per inaugurare il suo nuovo agriturismo a Figline Valdarno (FI).
Letteratura Italiana e Internazionale
Nell'Agosto del 2010 scrive la prefazione alla raccolta di racconti di Claudio
Elazar Lazzaro edita da Albatros e Distribuita da Mursia e Mondadori in Italia
intitolata ''Mai Dire mai''. Nel Febbraio del 2011 è prevista la pubblicazione
della versione Albanese del libro per l'Editore della TV di stato Albanese TVSH
con una nuova e diversa prefazione di Leonard Toma.

Leonard Toma è già autore e regista dei suoi video musicali , tra tutti
citiamo ''Porko karne'' che è stato da lui montato con la tecnica della
fotosequenze ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUYUM6jRL1g ) , la sfida per il
futuro per la quale lui e la sua Associazione Culturale (Associazione
Culturale Ismail kadarè / Livorno) in collaborazione con l'Associazione NADI
Centro delle Culture di Milano hanno già iniziato a lavorare è la realizzazione
di un lungometraggio con la regia di Leonard Toma tratto da un libro di Claudio
Elazar Lazzaro dal titolo ''Barboni'', con la colonna sonora realizzata da

Bereich Ethnopop in Albanien, seinem
Heimatland.
- 1990 emigriert Leonard nach Patraso in Griechenland, wo er als
Komponist, Schlagzeuger und Trommler zusammen mit Spiro Grivas griechische
Folk-Musik spielt.
- Gegen Ende 1992 entscheidet er sich, nach ITALIEN zu gehen, zieht nach
Mailand und musiziert dort mit der Band Giuseppe Verdi aus Cesano Maderno.

Der Name MISHELA stammt von dem Musikstil

Sein Wunsch sich selbst zu verwirklichen
und seine Passion fuer Musik ermoeglichten ihm, Menschen kennenzulernen, die
ihm helfen und ihn unterstuetzen. Darunter sind Piero Cassano (Produzent und
Musiker, bekannt als Promoter von Eros Ramazotti) und Luigi Colarullo
(Produzent und Musiker), die mit Leonard zusammengearbeitet haben bei der
Produktion des Projekts „Cuca Baby“ mit den Stuecken: Cuca Baby, Xhixhile und
Oppa.
Aus Nostalgie singt Leonard
Musikstuecke aus dem Balkan.
Bei dieser Gruppe moechte er den
unveroeffentlichten Stuecken, der Balkanmusik (aus Albanien) und der eigenen
Idee von WORLD MUSIC mit gemischten Texten den Vorrang geben.
Seine Band besteht aus italienischen,
aegyptischen, eritreischen und rumaenischen Musikern und wird begleitet von
Bauchtanz.
Inzwischen kooperiert er mit weiteren Kuenstlern
wie VLADIMIR DENISSENKOV (Akkordeonspieler, der mit FABRIZZIO DE ANDRE
gearbeitet hat), MONIO VA, UNION NOWHERE und anderen.
Leonard wirkt als Schlagzeuger mit beim Soundtrack
